Yanukovych living up to his gangster reputation

It has often been said that if you want to predict Yanukovych's and his pals' behaviour, look for pointers in the books of Mario Puzo.

Tymoshenko is jailed for seven years - Western leaders are shocked - Yanukovych had given them tacit assurances this would not happen. She is banged up in an old, cold overcrowded Tsarist jail - no 'Hague Hilton' for her.

The conditions in the trial courtroom on some days were described as 'inhuman'. She has been systematically denied individual treatment by her own personal physician.

He tells critics 'we'll let her go..if she confesses and shows remorse'. His advisers spread the same message. Confess, and we'll go easy on you...'

He cryptically suggests to Angela Merkel he will release Tymoshenko, if she pays Tymoshenko's $190 million fine... '

He allegedly distastefully promises Putin he will release Tymoshenko as a birthday present...he can have her as a table ornament..

His associates propose an exchange on a "Shuster Live" show - Tymoshenko for Lazarenko...to the disgust of the show's host.

The day after the EuroParliament demands her release before the initialing of any association agreements, he sends the thuggish Renat Kuzmin, whose name has darkened my blogs several times over the years, out onto live television. Kuzmin, in a brazen riposte to the Europarliament resolution, rushes to declare three additional criminal cases are currently being investigated against Tymoshenko, including one of murder 15 years ago. Why the rush? She will be in prison until 2018..

Tymoshenko is looking more and more like a hostage - You don't want to pay up? You won't let us join your party? We'll hit her with even more criminal cases..

I believe Yanukovych is losing touch with reality. To him this is a power game. All that matters is retention of thuggish machismo..I think he really believes his behaviour impresses his critics..

Read his weird, totally inadequate reaction to Europarliament resolutions. Surely the presidential administration should be issuing detailed point-by-point responses to matters of such importance?

Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely

It si time for Ukraine to remove presidential authority and adopt a full democratic parliamentary system of governance.

As long as Ukraine is beholden to presidential rule be decree it will never be a free independent democratic state.

The EU should withhold any funding for projects and certainly should not hand over any cash to the government. Any projects that are funded must be administered by the EU or by accredited non government organisations

That poorly delivered statement by Yanukovych saying things do not change overnight and ending on we are committed to signing the agreement appears to be a game play. You sign, we will agree, until then there is a lot to do. get back to us with your final offer.

If it fails we will signed an agreement with the Eurasia Union.

There is a lot at stake for both sided in this game play. I wonder how much the EU needs Ukraine?

The EU should make one more final demand. Remove presidential power and adopt a parliamentary system of government. Given that Yanukovych previously supported Ukraine becoming a parliamentary democracy, I wonder what his response will be today

Oh, this is good - really good.

There are thousands of people who have stormed the Parliament, not only Chornobyl victims, but others, whose benefits have been cut - and are simply not being paid.

In an interview with one of the participants, the TVi reporter asks him - "well, you knocked down the fence, what's next?"

The man replies - "we did not knock down the fence - it fell by itself. Just like the government claimed earlier that they don't know who put the fence up, we don't know how the fence came down."

Indeed, earlier, there were multiply interview with various sovok mafia government ass holes who were asked how it is that a fence suddenly appeared after the Afghan vets stormed the Parliament - they claimed "no knowledge."

The Pineapple and his sovok mafia are really, incredibly stupid.

The EU kicked them in the balls - good.

Now, Yanukonvikt and his sovok mafia have shot themselves in the foot, crapped their pants, and are shooting themselves in the other foot.

The pensions, etc., are simply not being paid, while Yanuk buys helicopters and jets, etc.

The whole system of government, for the past 20 years, has been set up to keep about 2500 people in obscene wealth and comfort - and the rest of the country be damned. Yanukonvikt, Akhmetov, Firtash, Boyko, Kluyev, and the rest of the vampires live in obscene wealth thanks to a corrupt system of government designed for their benefit.

And then Olena Bumdarenko, the clucking hen, Ganna Goebbels German, and the rest, go out and lie about on assorted political talk shows like Savik Shuster and "Big Politics," etc.

The enemy of the Ukrainian people is the current sovok mafia government.

And sovok mafiosi don't learn - they just keep on lying.

And it looks like a good portion of the Ukrainian people are finally fed up with it.

"We don't know how the fence fell down - just like the government doesn't know who put the fence up."

The enemy of the people is the presidential system. if you belive in democracy and representative government then you should be supporting Ukraine becoming a full Parliamentary democratic state. Until the people are given the right to self govern they will never be free. A parliamentary system of government is the only true expression of democratic government
